Names, phone numbers, and addresses entered in search forms are sent to the outside provider that produces those results. Our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. If you contact us, we receive the contents of the message and use them to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Like most hosted services, the site receives ordinary server-log data such as an IP address, browser type, visited pages, and time stamps. We review that information in aggregate for maintenance and audience patterns. Cookies or comparable technologies can support basic analytics and, when applicable, advertising measurement.
What We Do With This Data
We use that limited information to operate the service, correct technical problems, measure traffic, and improve the reference material. We do not sell visitor lists or construct individual visitor profiles.
Links to Other Websites
Chester Residents Directory links to Chesterfield and Virginia portals, archives, library collections, and outside search tools. Their own policies control information submitted on their services. That includes sponsored results delivered by a third party.
Who Might See Your Data
Hosting and support providers process server logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. We disclose information only when valid legal process requires it.
How We Protect Your Data
The site uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the purposes described above. Since there are no user accounts, the service does not hold visitor passwords or account profiles.
Users Under 18
This reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly gather personal information from people under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor sent information, and we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Virginia’s Consumer Data Protection Act, Va. Code Title 59.1, Chapter 53, gives covered consumers rights to access, correct, delete, obtain a portable copy of, and opt out of certain processing of personal data. Because this service keeps very little, a request normally involves the contact mailbox and applicable logs. Send it through the Contact page. Chesterfield County and Virginia public records are controlled by their custodians, so requests about those records belong with the office that holds them.
